About Joe Sciarretta
Hi, I’m Joe Sciarretta. Welcome to Dovetail Counseling Group. Let me start by saying “congratulations” on taking a big first step towards feeling better – looking for the right help.
Having heard so many people’s stories, I know how hard it can be to find a therapist you just “click” with. With that struggle in mind, I have stuck to the principle of “meeting people where they’re at” – so whether you’re starting off scared, excited, unsure, or something else entirely, I know I can help.
My areas of specialty include helping people struggling with Eating Disorders, OCD, Anxiety, and Depression. I've also supported people dealing with Relationship Issues, Life Transitions, and a wide variety of other problems.
If you're not sure where to begin, give the office a call at 908-837-1251, or Contact Me here through our site. I personally respond to each outreach (often within a few hours or on the same business day) and offer FREE phone consultations to discuss your unique situation.

Freedom is possible, with the right help.
Body image issues and unhealthy eating patterns can be very disruptive to a happy life.
We work with a wide variety of eating disorders, such as anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, disordered eating, avoidant-restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID), compulsive exercising, and orthorexia.
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a very misunderstood illness.
People often joke that they are "so OCD" when they simply tend to like things to be organized. Real OCD can be an excruciatingly painful way to go through day-to-day life.
While most people refer to "anxiety" as a kind of simple worrying, it can be much more serious.
Symptoms that indicate your anxiety is starting to escalate can include non-stop worrying, panic attacks, spiraling thoughts, or a racing heart.

What is Therapy?
Therapy, sometimes called “psychotherapy” or “counseling”, is a way of treating mental health problems through conversation and behavior change. By talking through your problems, learning new skills, tweaking thinking patterns, and altering unhelpful behaviors, positive changes to emotional well-being can take place.
Therapy can be done in a variety of settings such as one-on-one, with family members/loved ones, or in groups with peers.
For many mental health problems, therapy can be an extremely effective way of finding lasting relief.
There is no mind-reading, tricks, or traps in the therapeutic process – just honest conversation and self-reflection.
